Its slender hot-rolled steel profile is a benefit to architects and builders not only because of it’s alluring aesthetic qualities, but also for it’s ability to be utilized for heavy duty residential and commercial applications. The versatility of the W20 and W40 series spans from the ability to reinforce individual sections of composite framing systems without diminishing from the thin nature of the frame. Additionally, the W20 and W40 series is renounced for its ability to match traditional heritage and Georgian style steel windows and doors with the added capability of accepting much more efficient glazing, thus enhancing the overall thermal performance.

Glazing Bead Styles
Our W20 and W40 frame series maintains the same high level for customization as the rest of our frames and offers a total of 5 glazing bead styles. From left to right, bead styles include; Square, Arched (or Sloped), L Shaped, J Shaped, and Flat. All bead styles can be matched with stylish simulated and true divided muntins to coinside with the exact style you require.
Material Options
Hot-rolled material options available for the W20 and W40 steel frame series include Hot-Dipped Galvanized Steel with a Powder Coated finish (textured, metallic, marine grade and custom colors available), Architectural Bronze (numerous patinas available), and Stainless Steel. Not only is our paint color and texture selection expansive, but our ability to customize the bronze patina and stainless steel finish to meet your specific needs makes our capabilities virtually endless.
Assembly Overview
The detailed 3D rendering on the left highlights the important features that comprise our W20 series windows and doors. These features include: the (a) Glazing pocket for Glass up to 15/16” (24 mm) total thickness, the (b) Glazing Bead (shown is the Flat bead style) which may be used on the interior or exterior frame surface, the (c) Interior EPDM sealing gasket and weep system, and the (d) Exterior rebated EPDM sealing gasket.
Narrow Sight-line
The W20 and W40 series is an extremely slender, hot-rolled steel profile which offers countless benefits in terms to durability and aesthetic value. For this reason, it is now becoming the “go to” frame for replicating heritage style steel windows and doors. As seen in the rendering to the right, the our operable windows and doors achieve an overall sight-line of 2-1/8” (55 mm). Hardware Collection
Hardware for the W20 and W40 series steel windows and doors is tailored specifically to meet the needs of each project. Some suppliers tend to provide identical hardware for all of their products, but we understand that no one style or budget are the same. For this reason, we offer an exclusive selection of handles, bolts, catches, hinges, stays, multipoint locks and cremone sets to maintain the elegant and timeless style of our windows and doors. Custom hardware, hardware finishes and hardware fitment is also available for those projects were detail is of the highest regard.

In any window, door or curtain wall application; especially heritage style projects, it is essential to utilize the correct glass and maintain a healthy budget doing so. To make this possible, we collaborate with an extensive selection of glass manufacturers, domestically and abroad, to deliver a glazing solution that is best for the desired application. For heritage projects specifically, we offer an exceptional range of leaded single pane or dual pane glass as well as custom stained glass and laminated or non-laminated restoration glass which is designed to meet the most rigorous modern safety codes.
